The presence of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh has become a guarantee of security in the region. Peacekeepers are engaged in demining territories, restoring social infrastructure, improving the humanitarian situation and helping refugees. They risk themselves, unfortunately, not without losses, they risk their lives so that peaceful life returns to this land.
Despite all the risks, Russian peacekeepers are performing their demining tasks properly: on December 21, more than 10 hectares of territory in Nagorno-Karabakh were cleared of mines.
During the entire operation, the engineering units of the Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh cleared about 248 hectares of terrain, 95.3 km of roads.
Also, 423 buildings were cleared of mines, more than 8.3 thousand explosive objects were found and neutralized.
In addition to mine clearance, their main task is to monitor the ceasefire and military operations in the conflict zone, prevent the supply of weapons by external forces of the parties to the conflict, ensure the protection of delegations and convoys, help the civilian population and return refugees home.
Thus, on December 21, another 306 people came home from the territory of Armenia. And for all the time of the peacekeeping operation, the Russian military has ensured the safe return to the region of more than 42 thousand people.
With the assistance of our peacekeeping forces, vital infrastructure facilities are being restored in the war-affected areas of Karabakh. So, on December 20, in the settlement of Mardakert, the Russian military helped the repair team to put in order one residential building and 1.6 km of power lines. Since the beginning of the peacekeeping operation, 23 residential buildings and 7.9 km of power lines have already been restored.
And specialists of the Russian visiting medical team in the village of Chartar provided outpatient care to 35 local residents, including one child. In total, during the peacekeeping operation, our military medics examined, received and helped 759 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, 85 of whom were children.
The Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation also reported that our military continues to collect information about missing persons during the conflict and are engaged in the transfer of bodies of those killed in hostilities. In this work, the peacekeepers interact with representatives of the International Committee of the red cross and the local Ministry of emergency situations.
In addition, there is a hotline in the region. This channel has already received 521 appeals from citizens. All of them were transferred to the search groups of the center for reconciliation of the parties.
