The deployment of a contingent of Russian peacekeepers to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic has had a positive impact on the situation in the region. The armed conflict has been stopped, and consequently there will be no more losses among military personnel and civilians. The ceasefire regime will now definitely be observed, since as long as at least one Russian peacekeeper is on the territory of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, this will have political consequences.
The adviser to the NKR President David Babayan believes that the deployment of a Russian military base in Karabakh in the long term would strengthen security in the Republic and protect it from provocations from any of the parties to the current conflict. It is for peace in the region, many believe that the deployment of the Russian base would be appropriate. Another important advantage of the presence of peacekeepers in the conflict zone is that Turkey, being an ally of Azerbaijan, can push Aliyev to aggression against Armenians and violation of the territorial integrity of Armenia. In this case, Armenia will have time to prepare for new military operations, and Russia, as an ally of Armenia, will no longer stand by and will take a direct part in this conflict. But this version of events is also excluded thanks to Russian peacekeepers.
The ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic once again proves to the whole world that Russia is not an aggressor, as the West and NATO believe, but a guarantor of peace and tranquility in the region where it has a presence.
